Liverpool Reportedly Remain in Contention to Sign Aaron Ramsey
Juventus are the Arsenal midfielder’s most likely destination but he hasn’t made a final decision yet.
With a slew of reports over the past 24 hours claiming Aaron Ramsey had agreed a pre-contract with Juventus, the future of the Arsenal and Wales midfielder appeared decided. However, it appears those reports may have been pre-mature.
That’s because the BBC’s David Ornstein says that, as of today, no deal has been agreed between Ramsey and Juventus and that the player is still considering his options—including staying in England, which would mean joining Liverpool.
This will likely come as mildly surprising news for Liverpool fans, as after being linked regularly with a move to Anfield early the autumn, Ramsey was talked about less and less as a possible transfer target as the weeks and months passed.
The assumption was that either the player had decided to move elsewhere—whether because of wage demands or playing time prospects—or that Liverpool were not actually—and perhaps never had been—interested in signing him.
Ornstein, though, is one of the most reliable journalists when it comes to Arsenal news, and if he says Liverpool remain a potential destination for the player it’s quite possible that that is indeed the case. Still, possible is a long way from likely.
Juventus remain very heavy favourites to sign him, and Ornstein says there is also interest from Paris Saint-Germain, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, and Inter Milan—and that, generally, the 28-year-old Ramsey likes the idea of heading abroad.
