Sadio Mane: Liverpool Expect To Win At Anfield

Let’s hope Liverpool’s winning ways continue tonight.

Tonight Liverpool are back in action, and back in Anfield after their warm weather training in Dubai. Regardless of City’s results, it’s fair to say that tonight was going to have an added pressure. However, their loss has ensured that the home crowd will be especially “up for it” when the first ball is kicked.

At the risk of jinxing tonight, Liverpool have once again made Anfield a fortress under Jürgen Klopp. Following the wild 4-3 victory over Crystal Palace, Kloppo’s men have gone unbeaten for 32 matches, dating back to April of 2017.

Of course, the lads aren’t just hoping to keep the unbeaten streak alive, but instead are targeting all three points.

“If you play at home, especially at Anfield, we have in our head that no-one is going to beat us, we’re going to beat all of them,” Sadio Mane told the club’s official website.

“We know how to sacrifice yourself and do everything to win games. But, to be honest, [the unbeaten record] is not something in our head. The only thing we focus on is the games coming.”

Mane doesn’t generally give a ton of interviews, but the Senegalese attacker also shared some thoughts about tonight’s game. Spoiler: he expects it to be another tough one against a Leicester side that has caused us problems, even in victories.

“When we played there, we got a positive result and won the game 2-1 even though it was very tough. But it’s normal, it’s the Premier League.

“Now we are playing at home. In this league every game is very tough; the only thing we have in our head is that we’re playing at home and we are Liverpool. We’re going to do everything to win the game.”

Hopefully Kloppo is able to keep focus on winning one game at a time.

Larger picture, the Reds have an opportunity to go 7 points clear at the top and greatly improve their odds of finally lifting that long-lost league title. If they manage that feat, the Anfield crowd will no doubt be a massive part of that story.
