Your Transfer Rumor Is Bullshit: Burnley’s James Tarkowski

Stop trying to make Liverpool buying a center back a thing.

Good morning. You may have heard about Liverpool’s injury crisis.

You also may have heard that two of the three injured Liverpool center backs are nearly recovered and about to be back in full training. And, you might have heard Reds boss Jurgen Klopp repeatedly deny a desire to dip into the transfer market for—literally—a one-game solution to this crisis.

So, when a rumor pops up that Burnley are placing an eye watering £50 million price tag on run of the mill defender James Tarkowski, and that Liverpool are interested, you can pretty much dismiss it out of hand. £50 million for one game? Sounds reasonable.

Add in the fact that this rumor appears to come from the birdcage liner, The S*n, the rumor can be laughed out of the room (and preferably hit in the back with rotten tomatoes and eggs as it screams and cries and runs away from Merseyside as fast as possible).

Of course, other less horrible publications have picked up the rumor (transfer season is going to transfer season), so it’s our job to dispel them. It’s bullshit. We can move on.
