Official: Lazar Markovic Completes Permanent Move to Fulham FC
Is this real life? Markovic completes permanent deal away from Anfield.
Barely 20 minutes after it was first reported by Paul Joyce, both clubs have now confirmed that Lazar Markovic did, indeed, complete a permanent move to Fulham.
After being unimpressive out on loan for several seasons and refusing other offers away last season, Markovic has managed to find a home in the Premier League, with yo-yo strugglers Fulham FC.
The Serbian player will make his way to Craven Cottage in a deal that was the best that Liverpool could hope for. The final amount that Liverpool received for the player is as yet unknown is apparently nothing, according to the Fulham announcement. But it appears that this was the best that Liverpool could hope for out of a situation that dragged on for far, far too long. At least now his wages will be off their books. At this point, I suppose that was the best that they could have hoped for.
With only six months left on his contract, it seems the club was looking to cut their losses and ship him somewhere on a free. It’s possible that Markovic preferred to stay in the Premier League, though details are still scarce.
(Edited to reflect accurate information about the deal)
