Former Chelsea player backs Liverpool for the title
Former Chelsea midfielder Andy Townsend believes Liverpool winning the Premier League would be good for English football.
Jurgen Klopp’s side are top of the league with seven games remaining, although Manchester City have a game in hand in second place.
However, Townsend would prefer to see the Reds lift the trophy at the end of the season.

“Personally I would love to see Liverpool win it,” Townsend said.
“I think it would be great for the Premier League and it’s been such a long time.
“I know lots would disagree, probably millions out there watching.
“But I’ve really enjoyed watching Liverpool.
“I think when they’re at their absolute foot-to-the-floor best, I think they’re a very, very good team.”
Former Manchester United player Gary Pallister, however, disagreed with Townsend, claiming Manchester City are still the favourites.
“I think they’ve got the experience of doing it,” Pallister said of City.
“I think they’ve got a better squad, I think they’ve got better depth in their squad than Liverpool maybe have.
“Liverpool were good last year, I think they’ve taken it up a notch again this year.
“And to be competitive with a team like Manchester City, you’ve got to pay testament to that for Liverpool.
“But I just think the quality and the size of the squad at Manchester City is going to tell in the end.”
