Henderson: England duty is “definitely not” a break from Liverpool pressure
Jordan Henderson revealed that international duty for England is “definitely not” a break from the pressure of playing for Liverpool.
The Reds skipper could earn his 50th cap for England if he plays against Czech Republic and Montenegro in their upcoming matches.
And the Liverpool midfielder didn’t sugar-coat the nature of playing for both his club and country.

“You have to switch the focus from what you do at your club to international, but the pressure is still there,” Henderson said.
“We want the best players in the squad and we want to compete with each other to improve.
“Declan [Rice] has done really well. He has settled in, looks good and he is a very talented young player who I am sure he will do very well for England.
“It is good those younger players have so much talent. It’s good for England because I can see in a few years we are going to have big, big players.
“Young players who are maybe only starting now who are going to be more experienced and even better in a few years.
“The future is bright really with all the young players coming through and how well they are doing, that’s really good for England.
“But that means I need to do more and I need to do better because you have younger players, or players get signed for the club who push you and want to take your place and you have to be better them.
“Also it’s up to me to try and help them when they come here and perform and feel comfortable around the lads and the squad to go out in a game and do what they do for their clubs.”
He added: “When you play for Liverpool and England, you have good players around you and you want to compete with the best but I have to keep improving and using my experience as well.
“But I don’t really look at that experience of being a benefit for me. I look at it as a benefit for the team more than anything.
“When you’ve got players that have been in that situation before, of experience, big games, semi-finals, finals, big competitions, then it’s good for the team.
“For players to be able to help them, especially the younger lads, to help cope with bigger occasions. And give them a little bit of experience on what to expect.”
