Liverpool Reportedly Seek Premier League Loan Destination for Harry Wilson

Despite his success at Derby this season, the 21-year-old is expected to go out on loan again in the summer.

Harry Wilson has made a difference for Derby County this season. So much so in fact that many Liverpool fans had begun to pencil the 21-year-old in as the fourth Liverpool forward for next season. That, however, may not be on the cards.

Wilson’s 12 goals and four assists in 35 total appearances for Derby have been impressive, and if it turns out to be sustainable his finishing from distance would be considered truly elite, but it seems Liverpool want him on another loan next year.

According to Goal’s Neil Jones, Liverpool are already talking to other clubs in the Premier League about sending Wilson their way next year—with Premier League minutes being the top priority for next season for the young attacker.

More than that, until the past week it was Leicester City who were most likely to end up with Wilson for next season. And the idea of being a regular starter for a year for Leicester does seem a perfect option for proving Wilson has what it takes.

The arrival of Brendan Rodgers, though, changed that. Rodgers tried to sign Wilson on loan last summer while at Celtic, but Liverpool were said to be concerned if he would be willing to trust a young loanee and give him sufficient minutes.

Those concerns remain now that Rodgers is back in the Premier League, and so a Leicester move few knew was in the works is now unlikely, but it does appear that despite some fans’ hopes, Wilson won’t be staying at Anfield next season.
