Liverpool Won’t Be Watching Manchester City Take on Cardiff

We think you shouldn’t bother watching Cardiff lose on Wednesday and Joël Matip agrees.

If you’re a Liverpool fan, don’t watch Manchester City take on Cardiff on Wednesday. It’s just not worth it. Cardiff are going to get ten dropped on them no matter who they start and will be fortunate to score a single goal of their own.

Even if they somehow play well enough to get a result, Neil Warnock was right—the refs would probably find a way to hand City the points. So. Don’t watch. It’s just not worth it. And if you need more convincing, Liverpool’s players won’t be watching, either.

“No, I think not,” was Joël Matip’s response when Sky asked if he’d be watching City take on Cardiff on Wednesday evening. “We can only concentrate on the things that we can decide. We focus on our way and our games.”

Matip does believe that City will drop points somewhere—and their run-in certainly looks difficult with games remaining against Crystal Palace, Burnley, Man United, and three times against Tottenham, who they will face in both the league and Europe.

He just isn’t going to bother to get caught up in watching them on Wednesday to see if this game, this week, is the one when they do. Instead he’s going to focus on Liverpool’s own run-in, on Southampton and Porto and Chelsea.

“I think it will be hard for both teams to play these kind of games without dropping points,” Matip added. “But we are only looking to our next opponent. That is the most important thing.”
