Barcelona concerned over De Ligt transfer as Liverpool circle

Barcelona are concerned that Liverpool may yet beat them to the signing of Matthijs de Ligt this summer, according to reports.

The Ajax captain has been in superb form for his side this season, playing a key role in their impressive Champions League run, and has attracted the attention of several top European clubs.

Barcelona remain the favourites to sign the 19-year-old, and could move quickly with the transfer window now open.

Reports are suggesting, however, that the La Liga champions are still not sure they will secure De Ligt’s signature, despite agreeing a fee with Ajax for his services.

Liverpool are still interested in bringing the centre-back to Anfield, where he could partner up with fellow Dutchman Virgil van Dijk.

It remains to be seen whether or not Barcelona will get the deal over the line before the Reds move in.
