Reds identify veteran goalkeeper to replace Mignolet

Liverpool are interested in signing veteran goalkeeper David Marshall as a replacement for Simon Mignolet this summer, according to reports.

Mignolet is set to leave this summer in search of regular first-team football, with Liverpool hoping to raise £15 – 20million from his sale.

Michael Edwards has reportedly identified Hull City keeper Marshall as a strong contender to deputise for Alisson Becker.

The 34-year-old, who made 44 appearances for Hull this season,  is out of contract next month.

He would bring substantial experience to the number two position at Anfield, and would no doubt be content to play second fiddle to Golden Glove-winner Alisson, who will be Liverpool’s main man between the sticks for years to come.

Jurgen Klopp will allow Mignolet to leave after a season spent largely on the bench, though the Belgian has been praised repeatedly by his manager and teammates for his attitude and work ethic throughout the campaign.
