Watch: Liverpool Celebrate Victory Over Barcelona with the Kop

A special moment in front of the Kop capped off one of the greatest comebacks in the club’s history.

Liverpool four, Barcelona nothing. Liverpool four, Barcelona three. After being all but finished following a bitterly painful first leg loss at the Camp Nou when they played the Catalan giants close to level, Liverpool are heading to the Champions League final.

They have completed one of the greatest comebacks in their history. Maybe in the history of football. For a club that once had a rather memorable night in Istanbul, that’s saying something—and it may take a few days for what happened tonight to truly sink in.

Yesterday, it rather felt like their season was over. Staring down the possibility of ending their league season on 97 points but still coming second. All but knocked out of the semi-finals in the Champions League after more than giving Barcelona a game.

Now, miraculously, it isn’t. It was a special performance. Every player who was on the pitch had a role to play in not just beating Barcelona but playing them off the pitch on the way to overturning a deficit that had seemed insurmountable two hours earlier.

Then, at the end of it all, Jürgen Klopp and all the players—Divock Origi and Gini Wijnaldum and Alisson and Virgil van Dijk and Fabinho and Sadio Mané and Jordan Henderson and Trent Alexander-Arnold and all the rest—walked over to the Kop.

And the Kop sang. And the players sang. And, while it may take a couple of days for me to fully believe that what I saw tonight actually happened, I know that that moment did, and that whatever comes now, I will remember it for a long, long time.
