Wenger thinks one thing changed the game at the Nou Camp last night

Former Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger believes the introduction of Nelson Semedo changed the game at the Nou Camp last night.

Liverpool had dominated the match up until the hour mark when Semedo came on despite being a goal down, and the change in tactics from the La Liga champions saw the tide shift towards the home side.

And Wenger, who has been on the receiving end of Barcelona’s attack himself, thinks the substitution affected the overall outcome of the game.

“Barcelona suffered at the beginning of the second half until they scored the second goal. Then Liverpool collapsed,” Wenger said.

“Barcelona looked more stable defensively. The second part is what we have seen so many times in our lives. Mr Messi came in and said: ‘Let me finish the job now.
“It is the typical feeling of playing Barcelona. You come out thinking like you have done well but they are better than you in the final third. Every pass is great from Messi and that makes the difference at the end of the day.”
