Everton CEO admits Liverpool’s Champions League win was “fantastic”
Everton’s chief executive has claimed that Liverpool’s Champions League win earlier this month is “great” for the whole city, according to the Echo.
Jurgen Klopp’s side edged out Tottenham 2-0 in Madrid on June 1 to win the sixth European Cup in the club’s history.
And Professor Denise Barrett-Baxendale suggested that in spite of the fierce rivalry between Everton and Liverpool, the victory was a good thing for the city in general.

“In business terms internationally, it’s fantastic,” said Barrett-Baxendale, speaking at the Echo’s Regional Business Awards last week.
“It’s great for the game, the city and the visitor economy, and it’s a spotlight on Liverpool, which has two fantastic, high achieving, top-flight football clubs. That’s fantastic for the fans.
“Obviously, we are in a competitive arena for football and [that kind of success is] what Everton are striving for, and we have to acknowledge that people will win and achieve, but we have to be competing and challenging at all times.
“It’s good for the Premier League – for anyone from here to win the Champions League .”
