Serie A side bid €90million for reported Reds target

French newspaper L’Equipe are reporting that Inter Milan have thrown their hat in the ring for Lille star Nicolas Pepe.

The forward has been heavily linked with a move to Liverpool in recent weeks, and continues to be so despite repeated denials by multiple outlets.

L’Equipe have now claimed that Italian giants Inter have bid around €90million for the 24-year-old, who has scored 37 goals in 79 appearances for Lille.

The French outlet also say that there continues to be English interest in Pepe, “especially from Liverpool”, though the Reds have denied any intention to pursue the player.

However, according to Le10 Sport , the Ivory Coast attacker is holding out for a move to Paris Saint-Germain and will turn down any approaches from other clubs, though a Paris switch would be depend on Neymar leaving the Ligue 1 giants this summer.

The news about Inter’s huge bid seem strange though, given that the club have admitted not being able to afford the signing of Man United’s Romelu Lukaku at around the same cost.

It could be that Lille are simply hoping to drive Pepe’s price-tag up as high as possible this summer, with the player increasingly likely to leave.
