Liverpool considering swoop for 22-year-old La Liga defender

Real Betis left-back Junior Firpo has been linked with a move to Liverpool as replacement for the outgoing Alberto Moreno, according to Estadio Deportivo via InsideFutbol.

The 22-year-old is a key target for Manchester United this summer but has now emerged as a potential candidate to compete with Andy Robertson in the full-back role.

The Scotland captain will be the only out and out left-back in the senior squad once Moreno moves on, though James Milner can also fill in there when required.

Firpo has reportedly been added to the list of potential defensive signings Jurgen Klopp could make this summer, with left-back one of the only positions the Reds are extremely likely to strengthen.

The Spaniard can also play at centre-back and on the wing, and could represent a shrewd signing, especially if Liverpool are able to steal him out from under the noses of United.

It remains to be seen whether or not the Reds make any concrete move for Firpo this summer.
