Liverpool defender revealed as most valuable in world football

Trent Alexander-Arnold is the most expensive defender in the world, according to a recent study, cited by Sky Sports.

The CIES Football Observatory have devised an algorithm that determines the market value of a player based on their age, contract status, game time, position, goals, international experience and performance for their club.

According to the results of the study, PSG’s Kylian Mbappe is the most valuable player in the world with an estimated worth of €252million.

Mohamed Salah comes in at second on the list at €219.6million, while Man City’s Raheem Sterling (€207.8million) is valued higher than Lionel Messi (€167.4million).

Alexander-Arnold is the highest-valued defender on the list at €130.2million, while Alisson is the most expensive goalkeeper at €107million .

Liverpool have four players in the top 20 most valuable players in the world – Salah, Mane, Firmino, and Alexander-Arnold.
