Liverpool “favourites” to sign Bruno Fernandes this summer

Liverpool are reportedly “favourites” to sign Portuguese international Bruno Fernandes this summer, according to Correio de Manha.

The midfielder helped his country win the Nations League final last night, beating the Netherlands 1-0 courtesy of a Goncalo Guedes goal.

And the Portuguese media are now reporting that the Reds are leading the race for the 24-year-old’s signature.

Tottenham were also said to be in the running but are reluctant to meet Sporting Lisbon’s valuation of the player, who scored 19 goals in 31 appearances this season past.

Manchester United are also heavily linked with a move for the £62million-rated midfielder, but Fernandes himself revealed recently that he likes Liverpool’s style of play more than most other Premier League teams.

“I like Liverpool a lot more [than Man City], it’s a more direct, more offensive, maybe less organised, but more intense football, when you do not have the ball possession you are more intense.”

It remains to be seen whether or not the Reds will move for him in the coming weeks.
