Rumour Mongering: Leicester City Want to Sign Daniel Sturridge

A reunion with Brendan Rodgers could be in the striker’s future.

What we do know is that Daniel Sturridge won’t be at Liverpool next season. What we don’t is where the 29-year-old striker will be plying his trade, though so far the most commonly discussed destination has been Serie A.

However, if Sturridge wants to remain in England, a move to Leicester could be on offer according to TeamTalk, who claim that manager Brendan Rodgers wants a reunion with his former star attacker in the East Midlands.

On the surface, at least, it seems a sensibly obvious link, though it’s hard not to think that a move to the slightly slower pace of Serie A might be a better fit for Sturridge physically given his injury struggles in recent seasons.

Further, it seems obvious a move to Leicester wouldn’t give Sturridge a key role given he would be behind Jamie Vardy on the depth chart. Still, if the he wants to stay in England, Leicester are at least a competitive mid-table side.

In other Leicester transfer news, the Foxes are said to be preparing for the departure of Harry Maguire to Manchester United by planning to sign no less than three players from Rodgers’ former club Celtic and rivals Rangers.
