Liverpool interested in signing £49million-rated Ajax midfielder

Liverpool are considering a summer transfer swoop for Ajax midfielder Donny van de Beek, according to Voetbal Primeur.

The 22-year-old enjoyed a fine season with the Amsterdam-based club, registering 16 goals and 12 assists, with five of those goals coming in the Champions League as a result of his involvement.

Liverpool already have several options in midfield, but with James Milner entering the final stages of his Anfield career and few goals or assists coming from the middle of the park, Jurgen Klopp may decide to splash out on a fresh face.

The Reds boss is reportedly a big fan of Van de Beek, who is valued in and around £49million.

His box-to-box style would fit in well with the high-intensity approach Liverpool take in every match, and at 22, he still has plenty of time to develop further.

Whether or not Michael Edwards pursues the Ajax star further remains to be seen.
