Tottenham midfielder on Champions League final: ‘We should have won”

Tottenham midfielder Harry Winks believes his side deserved to win the Champions League final more than Liverpool.

Spurs largely dominated the game in Madrid but failed to take their chances, whereas Mohamed Salah and Divock Origi were clinical when afforded the opportunity.

And Winks is adamant his team should have won the match.

“In my opinion, of course I’m biased, I believe we should have won but I’m so proud of everyone. It’s been an incredible run for us,” he told Tottenham Hotspur’s official website.

“We gave it a real go, created chances and on another day, we win.

“It’s an unfortunate one and all I can say is the way we recovered after the early penalty was fantastic.

“The character of this squad cannot be questioned.”

Tottenham had 64% possession in the match overall and registered eight shots on target. Liverpool had three strikes on target, with two finding the net.
