Van Dijk: “We definitely want to have these nights more often”

Virgil van Dijk has hailed Liverpool’s “togetherness” following the Reds’ Champions League victory over Tottenham on Saturday.

Van Dijk played a crucial role in the win, keeping the Spurs attack at bay during a game that the London side largely dominated but failed to impact effectively.

And the Dutchman is ready for more nights like the one he’s just experienced in Madrid.

“Everyone who is connected with Liverpool you want to make them proud and the manager definitely puts that in our heads even more,” Van Dijk said.

“It’s something that … a togetherness there at the moment. I’ve never really experienced it like this.

It’s very special. We deserve this season to win something and to be winning a Champions League is special.”

He added: “It’s not like we’re going away.

“In July it starts again. We’re going to try everything we can to be challenging for the title, challenging for the Champions League but also for the cups.

“We definitely want to have these nights more often.”
