Wantaway Liverpool Starlet Reportedly Nearing Exit

Rafa Camacho’s departure has seemed certain for some time but it could be official soon.

That Rafa Camacho is likely to leave Liverpool this summer isn’t exactly new news. It’s been assumed the 19-year-old Portuguese wideman would be on his way out ever since he came into conflict with the club over his role and refused offers of a new deal.

What might be new is word out of Portugal that a deal to return to Sporting Lisbon is all but done, with Wolverhampton and Scahlke apparently fading from the picture for the player, who is said to have strongly favoured going back to the club he started at.

Camacho was one of Sporting’s most promising youth players until 2013 when he made the move to England and Manchester City. Soon after, he joined Liverpool, spending the past three seasons with the Reds and making two senior appearances at fullback.

The player, though, always envisaged himself as a forward rather than a fullback, leading to conflict and the club making the player available for £10M this summer—a price Schalke, at least, were reported to have been willing to meet earlier in the month.

And while A Bola don’t speculate as to what fee Sporting will now end up paying, if a deal is in fact close to being done it seems likely that they will have to meet that £10M mark.
