Injury Update: Naby Keita Cleared to Begin Pre-season Training as Scheduled

Good news for Keita, who has struggled with fitness in recent months.
Naby Keita arrived a year ago at Melwood to much fanfare. After a year of waiting, this dynamic and exciting midfielder was finally going to take the pitch for Liverpool, and give the rest of the Premier League hell along the way.
At least that’s how it was supposed to go.
Instead, Keita struggled throughout the season with fitness and consistency as he adapted to Jurgen Klopp’s style of play. Just as soon as it looked like Keita was rounding into the form, and we were finally seeing the stand-out performances we had been promised, he suffered a season-ending injury away to Barcelona.
Keita supposedly recovered enough to play in the African Cup of Nations for Guinea, but ended up suffering what we now know is a minor adductor strain. It ended his tournament, but the good news is that he should be fit for his scheduled return at the end of July.
He was scanned by Liverpool’s medical team back at Melwood, and they have determined that Keita can return to his preseason training as planned, after a short vacation to rest his mind as well as body.
Hopefully Naby comes back fully healthy, and ready to show us what we missed through large stretches of last season.
