Liverpool Announce Squad for US Tour

Liverpool are coming stateside and they’ve released the list of players making the trip.
We are officially into the third week of July (!!!), which means that with two pre-season matches already under their belt, Liverpool are gearing up for their annual jaunt across The Atlantic. This year, the Reds will kick-off their tour with a stop in South Bend, Indiana, playing a friendly at Notre Dame. They will then move on to play a friendly at Fenway Park in Boston and will wrap up the tour with a match at Yankee Stadium in New York City.
With the team set to depart on Tuesday and the first match taking place this Friday, we’ve got big news on who’s made the cut for this stateside visit. Today, the official site released the names of the 28 man roster that will be making the trip to America.
Clyne, Fabinho, Van Dijk, Wijnaldum, Lovren, Milner, Gomez, Henderson, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Lallana, Mignolet, Brewster, Robertson, Origi, Matip, Kent, Lewis, Phillips, Jones, Hoever, Ojrzynski, Duncan, Woodburn, Wilson, Larouci, Alexander-Arnold, Van den Berg, Atherton.
The notable misses will be the players that have either just recently wrapped up international duty or are still out on it. That means Roberto Firmino and Alisson Becker, who featured in Brazil’s Copa America title winning squad this summer, will be out for the tour. Also, Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah are due to AFCON participation, with Mané slated to feature in the Final this Friday.
But it’s still a rather intriguing squad for American fans of the squad as they will get the opportunity to see some of the Young Reds who are touted to be the Next Big Things. Notably, each of Rhian Brewster, Ryan Kent, and Harry Wilson have made the trip. They are joined by the likes of Bobby Duncan, Ki-Jana Hoever, and new signing, Sepp Van Den Berg. All told, it should be a fun collection of players to watch.
Liverpool will face Borussia Dortmund in South Bend, Sevilla in Boston, and Sporting CP in New York.
