Liverpool Players Begin Slow Return to Training
The first few players will report to Melwood for training this week.
Did you enjoy the break, Reds? It’s been a little over a month since Liverpool were crowned the best team in Europe, and while some key players are still on their breaks or playing for their countries, it’s back to business for others.
This weekend, the Liverpool players will begin the slow trickle back into Melwood for preseason training as JĂ¼rgen Klopp gears up for their US preseason tour and the big season ahead. The first stars set to return are Fabinho, James Milner, Joel Matip, Adam Lallana, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Rhian Brewster.
Players on loan like Nathaniel Clyne, who left in January to finish out the season with Bournemouth, have also returned to Merseyside.
The players, along with some Academy youngsters, will train and play some local pre-season warm-up games later this month before meeting up with the rest of the players and heading off to America.
Naby KeĂ¯ta, of course, also recently returned from Egypt to Liverpool in order to check for a possible thigh injury suffered while representing Guinea in the Africa Cup of Nations. The Guinea coach, Paul Put, seems hopeful that KeĂ¯ta will return to Egypt, but the Merseyside contingent don’t seem as convinced.
The Premier League season starts properly in five weeks, so buckle in. It’s almost time to go again.
