Roberto Firmino Masterclass Lifts Brazil to Copa America Final

Bobby set up the first and scored the second, as Brazil beat rivals Argentina 2-0.

Roberto Firmino and Gabriel Jesus might be rivals for Brazil’s coveted #9, as well as rivals within the Premier League. But last night the two worked well together, setting each other up for each of Brazil’s two goals, as they saw off fierce rivals Argentina 2-0 in the Copa America semifinal.

The first goal came in the 19th minute, when Bobby picked out Jesus in front of goal with a low cross, which the Manchester City man fired home.

With the game still in the balance in the 71st minute, the roles were reversed, with Jesus now turning provider for Firmino. Jesus beat his City teammate Nicolas Otamendi and picked out Bobby in just...all the space. Firmino was left with the simplest of tap-ins (which he nearly skied over the bar, but thankfully did not), and Brazil cruised the rest of the way home.

Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker also recored his 9th consecutive clean sheet in all competitions. It is a stat made all the more impressive when two of those performances came against Lionel Messi led sides, and yet another in a Champions League final.

Bobby Firmino & Co. will have to wait for the result of tonight’s Chile-Peru match to discover who they will face in the final on July 7th. It will be Brazil’s first final in the competition since they last won it in 2007.

Go win the thing, Bobby. And please come back healthy and ready to go.
