Liverpool’s English and Dutch Internationals Set for Return Ahead of USA Pre-Season Tour

The team Liverpool will be taking on tour appears largely set.

With Liverpool’s Dutch and English internationals set to return to training on Saturday, it appears the squad for the club’s 2019 USA pre-season tour is now largely set, and only those who participated at the Africa Cup of Nations and Copa America will be missing.

Captain Jordan Henderson and fellow England international Trent Alexander-Arnold will begin training on Saturday, as will Virgil van Dijk and Gini Wijnaldum. None will be expected to face Bradford on Sunday, but they will be ready to face Dortmund on July 20th.

Those still absent from training after Saturday—the five in total who will not be expected to take part in the USA tour—will be AFCoN stars Sadio Mané and Mohamed Salah along with Brazil’s Copa America winning duo of Roberto Firmino and Alisson.

Naby Keïta returned to the club earlier this week but he is not expected to be active until the end of the month as he—along with Xherdan Shaqiri—undergoes injury treatment. Dejan Lovren, who returned on Monday, will be ready to face Bradford on Sunday.

After Dortmund, Liverpool face Sevilla in Boston, Sporting in New York, Napoli in Edinburgh, and Lyon in Geneva before taking on Manchester City in the Community Shield at Wembley on August 4th.
