Rhian Bewster “Is a Great Player” in Jadon Sancho’s Eyes

Clear respect from England youth teammate.
Is this Rhian Brewster’s moment? It feels like it might be.
The obvious issue is the number of players he’s behind in terms of getting competitive first team minutes. It’s depressingly not that hard to imagine us getting to December and he doesn’t have a league minute. But it doesn’t feel like that will happen. It feels like it’s all coming together for him.
Borussia Dortmund star and fellow England Under 17 World Cup winner Jadon Sancho agrees.
“I knew [the penalty] was going in as soon as he put the ball in his hands,” Sancho told ESPN after Borussia Dortmund played Liverpool in a friendly in which Brewster scored a penalty.
“Why? England! I’ve seen him do it all the time, top corner. I just knew what was coming.
“He spends time after training, practising and practising his technique. I always used to see him out on the pitches. Penalties, free kicks, he took them all. Playing for Dortmund, I couldn’t say what was going to happen, but I knew.
”He is a great player. I played with him a lot for England and he scored a lot of goals for us and I have assisted him! It’s a good thing for us to have someone like him.
”I feel like he is at the right club, he is developing and he is still so young. Just give him the time and patience and you will see.”
But can Brewster get the first team minutes he needs to push on? “I definitely think so,” Sancho added.
”He is so focused and will keep working hard. I feel like he can do it. I have played with him.
”I know how good he is. He causes defenders nightmares.”
Sancho’s trajectory is surely the kind that Brewster wants to emulate. The challenge is getting the first team games that one needs to do so. Fingers crossed.
