Simon Mignolet Leaves Liverpool For Club Brugge
The Belgian keeper leaves after 6 years with Liverpool
Simon Mignolet’s Liverpool career is officially over as the goalkeeper secures a move to Belgian side Club Brugge. Mignolet was the perfect professional in the last two seasons as the number two, first behind Loris Karius and then behind record signing Alisson Becker. Liverpool is expected to dip into the transfer market to find a new number two before the window closes next Thursday.
Mignolet flew to Brugge following the Community Shield match this afternoon. The transfer fee is believed to £7 million, with the Belgian international signing a long term deal with his new club. Mignolet had previously spent 6 years with Liverpool, going back and forth as the club’s number one until Alisson locked down the position last season.
Mignolet’s professionalism should be applauded by Liverpool fans everywhere. Last season when the club spent a world record fee (at the time) on a Goalkeeper, he buckled down and was a great teammate. He leaves Liverpool with a Champions League Winner’s medal and all the pears he can dream of.
Goodbye Simon, thanks for the memories.
