Why Liverpool didn't target Ryan Sessegnon

Jamie Carragher has revealed why Ryan Sessegnon wasn’t a major target for Liverpool before he joined Tottenham this summer.
He told the Telegraph: “I know Liverpool watched Ryan Sessegnon and saw another player for the future rather than someone who could go straight into the team at left-back.”
The London-born star has the potential to become a top-class player but with Andy Robertson in the Reds’ starting XI, he would have had to accept a place on the bench.
Last season, Alberto Moreno only made a handful of appearances and left in the summer to guarantee himself more game time with Villarreal and it’s likely Sessegnon wouldn’t have started more than a few Premier League games at Anfield had he made the switch to Merseyside.
Liverpool have Yasser Larouci coming back from injury soon and his potential is high enough for Jurgen Klopp to not be concerned about not having another senior left-back to cover for him.
The Algeria-born Frenchman showed great promise in pre-season and appears to be a player that loves to bomb down the left flank and is a great dribbler.
Before he was cynically felled by Sevilla’s Joris Gnagnon, the 18-year-old was bossing it for the Reds in the United States and should be involved with the first team this season.
