Alisson Could Return to Liverpool Training Next Week

The Liverpool goalkeeper is about to tip this early season injury over the crossbar.
What a blow it was to lose Alisson during the very first 45 minutes of the season. The Brazilian tore his calf against Norwich City and we thought it was all over. Manchester City would take the league trophy home again. Why can’t Liverpool have nice things?
But Adrián came in and has performed well in Alisson’s absence. We won that match against the Canaries at Anfield and then the Super Cup and then everything has been pretty much fine. Aside from the fluke at Napoli, Liverpool are winning.
The Spanish keeper has made some incredible saves along the way and his distribution is improving all the time. Still, Alisson’s return is anxiously awaited.
At his pre-Sheffield United press conference, Jürgen Klopp said Alisson could rejoin full team training next week. Egads.
“Ali is in a good way,” said Klopp. “He did yesterday [Thursday], not with us but with the goalie coaches, a full session, so he’s getting closer and closer. We will see. Now we have to talk to the medical department.
“So Ali looks like he is close but the final word is with the medical department obviously, because we have to ask how it is exactly and that’s it.
“Ali is not in contention for tomorrow, it looks like maybe he can train with the team maybe from Sunday on. We don’t know 100 per cent, but he’s really close.”
We shouldn’t expect Alisson for RB Salzburg on Wednesday then. The next opportunity would be at home to Leicester City on Saturday, October 5th. After that it’s another international break. Klopp may just decide to keep Alisson out of competitive action through that period and reinstate him on Oct. 20th at Old Trafford. The stage could be set for a glorious return to action with a win against Manchester United.
Credit to Adrián who knows his time is limited in the team but is clearly working on improving his game and has been a quick study of understanding the way Klopp wants him to play. Best backup keeper in the world.
