Klopp Talk: It Was an Average Day

A win is a win, Jürgen.
Liverpool have been winning recently. A lot.
That’s 16 consecutive Premier League wins on the board for the Reds. When you watch this team, you just don’t feel like they’re going to fail to win. For most of this game, Liverpool were shaky, but it didn’t matter. Liverpool can play poorly and the goal still feels inevitable. It must be brutal to play against this team, because you can do everything right, put in a near perfect performance, and you’re still probably going to lose.
Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp knows this.
“It’s normal you have to work hard for the points,” Klopp told BBC Sport. “You have to stay concentrated and do the right things. We did today. It was never a clicking day, it was an average day.
”We were deserved winners. If it’s 0-0 we cannot moan and would not. But if there’s one winner it should be us. We worked had for it. Winning in days like this is extremely worthy. We scored a lucky goal, we know that. But the boys worked so hard for it.”
“Worked hard for it” feels like the central thing here. Liverpool did not play anyone’s idea of sparkling football at Bramall Lane yesterday. It was a tough time. It did not matter in the end. Liverpool stuck at it, dealt with a well organised Sheffield United side, and knew the goal would come eventually. It came in fairly comical circumstances, but it was always coming. You’re never safe against this Liverpool side.
This run will come to an end eventually. We will drop points in one of these fixtures one day this season. That’s the nature of the beast. But my word, what a relentless machine Klopp has built here. We’ll have to wait and see if it delivers the Premier League title. For now, just enjoy it.
