Liverpool 'not interested' in signing Kai Havertz

Kai Havertz

Sport Bild report that Liverpool are not interested in signing Kai Havertz despite previous reports from Germany insisting that the Reds want the Bayer Leverkusen star.

In July, German news outlet Bild claimed that Liverpool wanted to sign Havertz for €100million (£89.4m) but now the lesser reliable Sport Bild report, via the Express, that the Reds are in fact not interested.

Liverpool’s midfield currently lacks a player able to contribute 10+ goals per season and after Havertz scored 17 Bundesliga goals last season, fans have taken to the idea of seeing him score goals from midfield for the Reds next season.

If SportBild are to be believed, however, this won’t happen as thing stand.

Kai Havertz.

They claim that Havertz is choosing between three teams to join next year, with Real Madrid, Barcelona and, of course, Bayern Munich jostling for his coveted signature.

Borussia Dortmund are also said to be interested but they aren’t viewed to be as appealing as the aforementioned trio.

Liverpool don’t exactly lack creativity, with Andy Robertson and Trent Alexander-Arnold essentially operating as wing-backs under Klopp but the Reds have needed more goals from midfield over the last year despite their 97-point place finish in the Premier League and their Champions League triumph.
