Tim Sherwood predicts Jurgen Klopp exit
Tim Sherwood believes that Jurgen Klopp could leave the club at the end of the season if the German wins the Premier League with Liverpool.
“I would say to Jurgen it’s a lot more tense and stressful at the bottom of the league, so enjoy it while you’re at the top of the league and he is,” said Sherwood on Sky Sports’ The Debate (22:42, Tuesday, September 24th).
“But I agree with you, they could win the league this year and he could have a year out.
“He is that tense, Pep-like, Pep did it as he went to New York for a one year and took a bit of time away from it, have time with the family and they’re legends of the game so they know what they’re doing and they can always come back and manage another team.
“Liverpool fans won’t want to hear that as they love the man and so do we! He’s entertainment and plays a fantastic brand of football.”
Klopp won the Champions League with Liverpool last season and was recognised by FIFA’s The Best awards ceremony this week as he was handed the Best Men’s Coach of the Year award, beating Pep Guardiola to the accolade.
His impact at the club has been miraculous and while fans would not resent him for leaving, there is no manager in the world that is capable of taking over at Liverpool and replicating the incredible work he’s done.
The Liverpool manager’s contract expires in the summer of 2022 and while Sherwood might believe that Klopp will leave if the Reds win the Premier League, it is much likelier that he will honour his contract and stay until it expires.
