Alisson Becker provides injury update
Alisson Becker told Liverpool’s official website that he is closing in on a return to full fitness after missing several games through injury.
“I’m on a good way, I think we are nearly there,” the Brazil international told Liverpoolfc.com.
“I can go outside to the pitch to do some goalkeeper work and I feel very well. I feel confident and I think now it’s just about getting all my power, all my confidence to come back and do what I love to do.”
On the significance of being fit enough to work outdoors again, Alisson continued: “It’s massive because if I look back, two weeks ago I couldn’t even walk properly. Now I’m running, jumping on my right leg that was injured so I’m really happy for that.”
Liverpool have done well to avoid dropping points in the Premier League in Alisson’s absence this season as the Reds top the table with 18 points from six games after they made it 15 wins in a row against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge at the weekend.
Alisson’s return to the starting XI will be a further boost to Liverpool’s chances of winning a league title for the first time in three decades as the Brazilian offers so much to his side.
His ability to sweep up behind van Dijk and co. as well as contribute in a major way to the way Liverpool build from the back is something that has been missing while Adrian has filled in.
