Bayern Munich chief discusses Philippe Coutinho future

Bayern Munich chief Karl-Heinz Rummenigge told Kicker, via the Mirror, that they will decide Philippe Coutinho’s future when the time is right.

He said: “Philippe’s a player with a lot of quality. He doesn’t have the attitude of a star.

“He’s a friendly person, popular around the club and we’re really happy with the deal we managed to close.

“We will decide when the moment arrives.”

When his season-long loan ends in the summer of 2020, Munich will have the chance to sign Coutinho permanently for £104million but given that he will be 28 years old at that point, there is doubt over whether the Bundesliga giants will sanction such a huge fee.

AS reports in Spain that if he doesn’t join Bayern permanently, a return to the Premier League is the most likely but there is nothing to suggest that Liverpool will offer him a way back even though reports have linked Coutinho with a return to Anfield.

While there is no disputing the fact that he would add a lot of quality, it doesn’t seem wise to spend so much money on a player that decided to leave the club when they needed him most.
