Chris Kirkland's doom-tempting Liverpool comments

Chris Kirkland has tempted fate by being overly optimistic about Liverpool’s chances of winning the Premier League this season.
The Reds can make it 18 consecutive wins in the Premier League when they face Manchester United next weekend and Chris Kirkland is backing them to do it.
“What a place to do it. You wouldn’t put it past them,” he told Sky Sports.
When asked if this is Liverpool’s year to break their 30-year title drought, Kirkland responded: “I honestly do think it is. Last year was so unlucky. People say losing by one point was devastating, I would rather have lost by one point than be 15, 16 points behind City still.
“I think with City’s injury problems they’ve got at the back, [Aymeric] Laporte is a huge miss, Vincent Kompany is a massive miss for them. At the back you can get at them.
“When we play them, if we can take points off them then all of a sudden you’re talking double figures. Can you see us losing four or five games this season? Not the way we’re playing.”
In all fairness, Kirkland makes a couple of great points but the mere fact that it’s eight games into the season makes it a little dangerous to go around predicting the eventual league champions.
Man City made up a lot of ground last season to win the title and even though they’re already eight points behind, you’re playing with fire by writing them off.
