Liverpool fans worried about referees for Aston Villa game

Jon Moss and Martin Atkinson.

Liverpool travel to Villa Park at the weekend and supporters are worried after learning that Jon Moss and Martin Atkinson will oversee the game.

The Premier League announced that Jon Moss will be the referee while Martin Atkinson will be in charge of the VAR and after his awful officiating at Old Trafford, his presence is a concern.

A late Adam Lallana goal salvaged a point for Liverpool but Atkinson’s failure to tell VAR that he couldn’t see the foul that Victor Lindelof committed on Divock Origi meant that Marcus Rashford’s goal couldn’t be disallowed.

It was a bitter pill to swallow and while Liverpool should beat Aston Villa with relative ease, the pressure that exists in every game these days means that the Reds are worried about anything that could derail Jurgen Klopp’s side.

The game is against Villa is a must-win as it will set the stage ahead of Manchester City’s trip to Anfield the following weekend and any slip-ups will encourage Pep Guardiola’s men.

A win, however, will place huge pressure on the visiting side to win or face falling further behind in the title race and potentially slipping to third behind a hugely exciting Leicester City side led by Brendan Rodgers.

Hopefully, the match officials resist the temptation to make headlines and make the right calls to give both sides a fair chance.
