Curtis Jones Looking to Make Anfield “Dream Come True”

The youngster is expected to make his Anfield debut against Arsenal on Wednesday.

Liverpool are expected to ring in the changes when they face Arsenal on Wednesday evening in the League Cup, with Jürgen Klopp likely to field a wholly changed side from the one that took on Tottenham over the weekend.

That will mean chances for some of the youth players, key amongst them Curtis Jones, who impressed Klopp in pre-season and has looked strong so far with the U23s—and could now be in line for his Anfield debut”.

“It’d be a dream come true,” he told the club’s website. “Growing up, going through the Academy, being a local lad, my only dream is to go out there and play at Anfield. Hopefully I’ll get a chance to do that on Wednesday.”

It won’t be his first senior appearance if he does start as expected—he made his debut in January against Wolves in the FA Cup and played the full 90 against MK Dons just last month—but if will be his first home game.

For a local lad, an academy graduate, that’s a landmark moment. And for Jones, who’s still just 18 years of age and could either line up as an advanced midfielder or on the wing, it’s expected just to be the start.

“I’ve got belief in myself,” he added. “But joining [the club] so young, the goal was always so far away. So I was only just focusing on step by step. But now I’m thinking it could almost be coming true, it’s an amazing feeling.

“I thought I had a good game against MK Dons and I was fortunate enough to come away with Man of the Match, [so] my focus is on Wednesday and I can’t wait to see what happens.”
