Paul Merson predicts Liverpool to win the Champions League

Sky Sports pundit Paul Merson believes that Liverpool are still the team to beat in Europe adding that he doesn’t think Manchester City will win the Champions League.
The Reds beat Genk away from home on Wednesday evening, winning 4-1 to move into second in the group after Napoli beat Red Bull Salzburg 3-2 thanks to a Lorenzo Insigne winner.
Alex Oxlade- Chamberlain scored two goals including a Lionel Messi-esque finish from outside the box while Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane both got their names on the scoresheet.
Liverpool still have one of the best defences in Europe and will be the team to beat once again this season after their unbelievable campaign last season saw them lift Ol’ Big Ears.
“City are a very good team, but they are not going to win the Champions League, playing against the best teams in Europe, with two holding midfielders in defence,” Merson told Sky Sports.
“They need Aymeric Laporte back. I thought Juventus would be one of the dangers, but I watched them the other night and they are not going to win it.
“I still think Liverpool are the team to beat. They lost in the final two seasons ago and then won it last season. Who’s got better form than that? They hardly ever lose at home, if ever.
“No one wants to go and play at Anfield. I still think Liverpool will be there or thereabouts come the end of the competition.”
