Robbie Savage praises Liverpool after Man Utd draw

Adam Lallana.

Liverpool were trailing Manchester United at Old Trafford for 49 minutes on Sunday before Adam Lallana scored a late equaliser to salvage a point.

While the Reds were quite poor, there are a few positives to take from the game and one has been expertly pointed out by Robbie Savage, who was working for BBC on Sunday.

He said: “That’s a sign of champions. Liverpool haven’t played well but now they have eight wins and a draw from nine games.

“United were good tactically in the first half and Klopp made changes. The substitutes made a difference.”

Liverpool might have been frustrated by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s tactics but Jurgen Klopp’s substitutions saw Naby Keita, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Adam Lallana pin United back for a late onslaught.

After a fine ball into the box which made it all the way to the back post, Lallana bundled the ball into the back of the net to make it 1-1, with five minutes left of regulation time.

The result means that Liverpool are now just six points ahead of Manchester City after they beat Crystal Palace 2-0 at Selhurst Park.
