Arsene Wenger answers whether Liverpool can go unbeaten in the Premier League this season

Former Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger believes Liverpool can go unbeaten in the 2019-20 Premier League season.

The Reds are currently 10 points clear at the top of the Premier League table with two games in hand. After 19 matches, the Reds have only dropped points in one fixture. That was the 1-1 draw against Manchester United at Old Trafford back in October.

The reality is, Liverpool are currently unbeaten. Wenger, who was in charge of Arsenal when they finished the 2003-04 Premier League season unbeaten, believes Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool have the ability to do the same.

“They were close last year and they are still on course to do it,” Wenger said when asked if Liverpool could go unbeaten this season, as quoted by Metro.

“But I think what Liverpool is expecting at the moment is just to win the Premier League and that is the first target for such a football city.

“To stay for 30 years without winning the Premier League… nobody would have predicted that.

“That is their main target and I think they are on a good run and on a good course to achieving that this season because their main opponent is quite far away already.”

It is a big call by Wenger. Going unbeaten in such a competitive league is difficult to do, but there is also merit to what he is saying.

Liverpool, even at their worst, have found a way to win this season. That trait itself is why Wenger’s comments should not be ruled out.

However, as Wenger said, what is more important is that Liverpool win the league. The club have not won a domestic title for 30 years.

Sure, it would be fantastic if Klopp’s side could go unbeaten, but the main objective is to win the Premier League in any fashion.
