Stuart Pearce says Liverpool will win Premier League "comfortably"
Former Manchester City boss Stuart Pearce says Liverpool will win the Premier League “comfortably” this season despite dropping points to Manchester United.
“After nine games they’ve got themselves a six-point lead,” Pearce said on talkSPORT.
“I think they’re clear favourites and I think they’ll win the Premier League this year, comfortably, by points. I’m not sure they’ll go unbeaten, but I can’t see them losing more than two games.
“Well potentially [those could be against Manchester City] but if you go into the game against your nearest rivals and you’ve got a six-point buffer, it will put real pressure on Manchester City to come out and play and that might just suit Liverpool, you never know.”
While it’s still too far to tell whether or not Liverpool will be able to win the title let alone do it comfortably, it’s not wise to believe that this Manchester City side won’t push the Reds all the way to the final few games of the season.
Pep Guardiola’s side won 198 points in the 2017/18 and 2018/19 seasons and despite their poor start to the 2019/20 season, it’s a safe bet that they will end on 90+ points once again.
Liverpool have most of their players fit and will hope to see that remain the case otherwise they will run into the same problems that their rivals are at the moment.
