The Klopp call that changed Gronnemark's career

Liverpool throw-in coach Thomas Gronnemark has revealed the call he received from Jurgen Klopp that changed his coaching career.

The Reds are currently the Premier League table-toppers, leading Manchester City by five points after just seven games and as has been the case between the sides for a year now, fine margins are proving decisive.

The Citizens might be explosive in attack as their 27 goals in seven games proves but their defence has proved too leaky already this season and cost them against Norwich City and Tottenham.

Liverpool have capitalised on their slip ups so far and the minor tweaks that Klopp has made are proving important and this includes the input of Thomas Gronnemark.

Speaking to the Liverpool Echo, Gronnemark recounted: “It went to voicemail,  it was Jurgen Klopp and I was of course totally blown away because it had always been a dream to coach in the Premier League but especially Liverpool FC.

“I ended up taking the call in a grass field and he said that even though they had a good season (in 2017/18) they lost a lot of balls from throw-ins so he invited me to Melwood the next week.”

Gronnemark described the call from Klopp as “the most important” of his life.
