Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has provided an injury update on midfielder Jordan Henderson.

The Reds were 4-0 victors against Leicester City at the King Power Stadium on Boxing Day, but unfortunately the Liverpool captain was removed from the pitch with eight minutes remaining in the match.

However, Klopp has confirmed that Henderson is not seriously injured, which will provide relief to many Liverpool supporters around the world.

Klopp said to the media in regards to Henderson’s injury: “Jordan is okay. He got a kick on the shin, it was bleeding afterwards. He said he could have played on!”

This news is promising, as the injury at first appeared to be quite serious. Henderson looked to be in agony as he was taken down against the Foxes.

Midfielders Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Fabinho are currently dealing with long-term injuries. The last thing Klopp needed was another injury to a key player.

One also needs to consider that the captain has been in superb form of late, and he continued in that fashion last night.

The victory at the King Power Stadium puts the Reds 13 points clear of second-placed Leicester City.
