Jurgen Klopp jokes that he could have used Takumi Minamino against Monterrey
Reds manager Jurgen Klopp has jokingly said that he could have used Salzburg’s Takumi Minamino in the FIFA Club World Cup semi-final clash against Monterrey last night.
Liverpool defeated the Mexican outfit 2-1 thanks to goals from Naby Keita and Roberto Firmino. The Reds will take on Flamengo in the final come Saturday.
Klopp was asked a question regarding the potential signing of Minamino after the game, but he stated he could not give too much away.
“I cannot speak about it, sorry. You are too early!” Klopp told the media after the Monterrey clash.
He added with a smile: “If he would come – it would have been good if we could bring him on. But he’s not yet our player so we have to wait for that, sorry.”

Minamino underwent his Liverpool medical yesterday. The Reds triggered Minamino’s £7.25 million release clause earlier last week.
An announcement should not be too far away, as the Japan international is set to join the club come January 1.
Klopp may have only been joking about being able to use Minamino at the FIFA Club World Cup, but there is definitely a sense that he could use him right now.
With the amount of football the Reds are currently playing, rotation is necessary. Having an extra player would just make life a tad easier for Klopp at this current moment.
