Liverpool confirm the signing of Takumi Minamino
Liverpool have completed the signing of Takumi Minamino from Salzburg.
The Reds triggered Minamino’s £7.25 million release clause earlier last week. The Japan international passed his medical yesterday, which means he will officially become a Liverpool player on January 1.
Minamino told the club: “It has been a dream, my dream to become a Liverpool player. And I’m so excited that the moment has come true. I’ve known about it for a while.”
Minamino, who has signed a four-and-a-half-year deal, has played a total of 22 games in all competitions this season for Salzburg. He has scored nine goals and assisted a further 11.

It is bizarre to think Minamino has only cost Liverpool £7.25 million. For a player that has excelled in the Champions League this season, this should be considered a superb bit of business by the Reds.
As he is only 24 years old, he has plenty of football ahead of him. He gives the Reds depth in attack, and considering how taxing the second half of the season will be, it makes sense for Liverpool to bring in reinforcement.
Minamino is eligible to feature for the Reds in the Champions League despite having already played for Salzburg in the competition this season due to a new rule change.
