Rumour Mongering: Nathaniel Clyne Likely to Depart Liverpool in January

In related news, Nathaniel Clyne is currently a Liverpool player.

There was a time when Nathaniel Clyne was amongst the league’s top fullbacks and when his absence would have led to fear amongst Liverpool fans. Now, though, after a string of injury-plagued seasons, it can be difficult to remember he’s still on the books at the club.

It’s a shame, given how important he once was for the club, but while oft-injured players like Adam Lallana and Xherdan Shaqiri have managed to at least keep themselves in the picture, Clyne has spent the past few seasons either injured or stuck on the fringes of the fringes.

It’s a situation that meant he was expected to move on from the club last summer—only for an ACL injury picked up in pre-season to derail the 28-year-old’s hopes of finding a new home and perhaps getting his career back on track before the game passes him by.

Now, though, there are whispers out of the club—whispers being passed along by Sky Sports and others—that Clyne is ahead of schedule on his recovery journey and could be declared fit before the end of January. And that means another chance to depart.

Where he could end up isn’t clear, at least not yet, but hopefully for Clyne’s sake news that he’s ahead of schedule is true, and hopefully too a permanent home can be found—and hopefully he has better luck staying fit when he gets there than he’s had at Liverpool.
