Thierry Henry assesses Liverpool’s title hopes

Arsenal legend Thierry Henry believes that opposition fans should sit back and admire what Liverpool are currently doing in the Premier League.

The Reds defeated Leicester City 4-0 at the King Power Stadium on Boxing Day thanks to goals from Roberto Firmino, James Milner and Trent Alexander-Arnold. The victory puts Liverpool 13 points clear of the second-placed Foxes in the Premier League.

Henry was not shy of voicing his opinion in regards to Liverpool’s current form during Amazon Prime’s coverage of the Boxing Day clash between Leicester City and Liverpool. He does feel the club will claim a maiden Premier League title this season.

“What they’re doing is just abnormal,” Henry told Amazon Prime.

“You should be happy to see a team like that. I’m not a Liverpool fan as everyone knows, but I like to see a team like that and the way they play.

“They win games ugly, they create, they fight, however you want them to win, they win it.”

Henry added: “I said before the game it was a matter of when. They are unstoppable, what they are doing at the minute is frightening.

“He’s (Klopp) never going to admit it and say it to his team they’ve won it, because they’re on a mission to win the league.

“They’ve never won it, so they’re not going to stop after tonight, they’re going to stop after the 38th game, the referee’s blown the whistle and they’re able to party in Liverpool with the cup.

“They could have been 4-0 up at half-time if they were a bit better in front of goal. The message he’s going to give is they’re not done, keep going and keep that team on track.”

It can be difficult to admire your rivals when they are flying, but Henry is showing his class here. He has the ability to identify a top team, regardless of which club they represent.

The biggest bit of praise that Henry gave Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool was in regards to how the team has the ability to win ugly. The Reds always find a way, which is something Klopp has instilled into this side.

There is definitely a sense this could be Liverpool’s year. However, there is still plenty of time to go.

Liverpool will be looking to gain three more points against Wolverhampton Wanderers at Anfield come Sunday in the Premier League.
