Carragher gives verdict on where Alisson sits in world rankings

Former Red Jamie Carragher believes that Liverpool shot-stopper Alisson is the best goalkeeper in the world.

Alisson, who signed for Liverpool from Roma for a transfer fee of around £67 million in the summer of 2018, has been exceptional for the club.

Since Alisson’s arrival at Anfield, Liverpool have won the UEFA Champions League, UEFA Super Cup and the FIFA Club World Cup.

The Brazilian has also played a huge role in regards to Liverpool accumulating a 25-point lead at the top of the Premier League table this season.

He was exceptional against Norwich City at Carrow Road on the weekend. His performance ensured Liverpool claimed another three points.

Carragher believes that Alisson has turned himself into the best goalkeeper in the world since moving to Liverpool.

Carragher told Sky Sports, as quoted by Sports Mole, after Liverpool’s 1-0 victory over Norwich City: “Liverpool have got the best goalkeeper in the world. He shows it yet again.

“This season he’s elevated himself to the number one goalkeeper in the world. If you look at Liverpool’s defensive record, how often he saves big chances.

“We always talk about Virgil van Dijk’s impact on this team, it’s been colossal. Alisson is exactly the same.”

It is difficult to disagree with Carragher. Alisson never brings negative headlines, as he rarely makes mistakes.

Without the Brazilian, Liverpool would not be where they are right now. Alisson’s impact has been as big as the impact that Virgil van Dijk made when he first arrived at the club.
